Treatments such as bonding and veneers are not only used to fix cavities and broken teeth. These treatments can also be used to improve the appearance of a person’s healthy teeth. While veneers are applied to the entire front surface of the tooth, bonding is applied to a smaller portion of the tooth. Bonding and veneers can make your teeth look better by improving their colour and shape, or even their angle and spacing.
Bonding, or bonded restoration, is a painless treatment that is used to make minor repairs to a person’s teeth. Bonding is a relatively simple procedure, and if required, several teeth can be bonded in one appointment.
Bonding uses a material called composite resin, which can be matched to the colour of your teeth. Composite resin is put on the tooth, shaped, and then hardened with a special light.
Bonding can be:
- Matched to the colour of your teeth;
- Shaped like the missing part of a chipped or cracked tooth;
- Used to build up ground-down teeth; and
- Fill gaps between teeth.
